Slack AI pricing: what each plan costs and which AI it includes
Last updated 8 October 2026
Slack AI pricing is now part of the Slack plan you pay for. Slack no longer sells the AI add-on on its website. On Slack's US pricing page, checked on October 8, 2026, Pro costs $7.25 per user a month billed yearly and includes AI summaries and huddle notes. Business+ costs $15 per user a month billed yearly and adds Slackbot, recaps, translations and search answers. Enterprise+ adds enterprise search, at a price you get from sales.
So the real question is not "how much is Slack AI" but "which plan has the AI I want". This guide gives the prices, the AI on each plan, the Slackbot message limits, and how Slack bills. All prices are in US dollars, per user, per month.
How much does Slack AI cost on each plan?
Here are the four plans as Slack's pricing page and help articles showed them on October 8, 2026.
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | AI included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Slackbot as a limited trial or preview only |
| Pro | $7.25 | $8.75 | Conversation and thread summaries, huddle notes, automatic search filters. Slackbot as a limited preview only |
| Business+ | $15 | $18 | Everything in Pro, plus search answers, recaps, file summaries, translations, workflow automation, message explanations, canvas content generation and Slackbot (15 messages per member per week) |
| Enterprise+ | Contact sales | Contact sales | Everything in Business+, plus enterprise search and Slackbot with no weekly or lifetime message limit |
On the same day, the pricing page showed "50% off for 3 months" on monthly billing: Pro at $4.38 instead of $8.75, and Business+ at $9 instead of $18. The "Terms apply" link did not lead to any terms on the page, and no end date was shown, so check the page before you count on it.
One thing to know: the Free and Pro cards on the pricing page list "Basic AI" with a long list of features. Slack's help articles, which give the feature-by-plan detail, are narrower. For example, they list conversation summaries and huddle notes for paid plans only. This guide follows the help articles. In Slack's own words: "The AI features available to you depend on your Slack plan, your role (member or guest), and whether your admins have restricted access."
What AI do you get on Free and Pro?
Free gets Slackbot only as a trial or preview. Slack's limits article says: "Once you've used all of the messages included in your Slackbot preview, you'll no longer be able to use Slackbot unless you upgrade or enable Flex Credits." Slack does not say how many messages the preview includes. Skills in Slackbot are not available on Free unless you pay for extra use with Flex Credits.
Pro adds three AI features:
- Conversation and thread summaries
- Huddle notes
- Automatic search filters
Pro also gets Slackbot only as a limited preview. Slack's help center is direct about the rest: "If you're on Pro, this means that you'll still be able to use conversation summaries and huddle notes, but would need to upgrade to Business+ in order to maintain access to other features like recaps, translations, and more."
The pricing page FAQ adds that Slack Free and Pro users "will have the chance to explore Slackbot's capabilities firsthand through a limited trial experience", and that ongoing Slackbot access stays with Business+ and Enterprise+.
What does Business+ add, and what are the Slackbot limits?
Business+ is the first plan with the full set of AI features, apart from enterprise search. On top of Pro's AI, it adds:
- Search answers
- Recaps
- File summaries
- Translations
- Workflow automation
- Message explanations
- Canvas content generation
- Slackbot, Slack's personal AI agent
Slackbot on Business+ has a weekly limit. Slack's limits article says: "Each member of a Business+ workspace can send 15 messages to Slackbot per week, starting Monday and ending Sunday." When a member reaches the limit, they cannot send new messages to Slackbot until it resets at 00:00 on Monday in their time zone.
The same article covers Slackbot tasks: "While there's no limit on the number of tasks you can create, you get three automatic task runs per day."
Slackbot is for all members except guests.
What does Enterprise+ add?
Enterprise+ adds two things on top of Business+:
- Enterprise search. An Org Owner or Admin can turn it on so search results include content from other sources, such as Google Drive and GitHub.
- No Slackbot message limit. Slack says members of Enterprise+ organizations "are not subject to weekly or lifetime message limits."
Slack does not publish the Enterprise+ price. The pricing page says "Contact sales for pricing".
What happened to the Slack AI add-on?
Slack stopped selling it. In June 2025, Slack announced changes to its plans. It changed the price of Business+ to include advanced AI features and introduced the new Enterprise+ plan.
The help center states: "The Slack AI add-on is no longer available to purchase on the Slack website." Customers who already bought the add-on kept paying for it and kept its features until their first renewal after August 17, 2025. Business+ customers who bought on the Slack website moved to the new version of the plan at that same renewal.
If you are still on an older plan, check what you have:
- On the legacy Business+ or the Enterprise Grid plan without the add-on, Slack says: "you'll only have access to the Pro features listed above."
- On the legacy Business+, Enterprise Select or Enterprise Grid plan with the add-on, you have Slackbot. Enterprise Select and Enterprise Grid organizations with the add-on have no weekly or lifetime Slackbot message limit.
Which Slack plan do you need for AI?
Work through these in order and stop at the first one that fits.
- You want only summaries of conversations and threads, and notes from huddles. Pro is enough, at $7.25 per user a month billed yearly.
- You want Slackbot every day, or recaps, translations, file summaries, search answers or AI workflow automation. You need Business+, at $15 per user a month billed yearly. Each member gets 15 Slackbot messages a week.
- You want search across Google Drive, GitHub and other connected sources, or Slackbot with no weekly limit. You need Enterprise+. Contact Slack's sales team for the price.
- You want to try Slackbot before you pay. Free and Pro get a limited trial or preview. When the preview messages run out, Slackbot stops unless you upgrade or enable Flex Credits.
How does Slack bill for its AI?
AI is part of the plan price, so you pay for it through your per-user plan price. Slack bills per active member. A few rules from Slack's pricing page and help center:
- Active means any action in Slack within a 28-day period. Slack's Fair Billing policy says you are not billed for members who are inactive or deactivated.
- Inactive members earn a credit. "If someone you've already paid for becomes inactive, we'll add a prorated credit to your account for the unused time."
- New members are prorated. You pay a prorated amount for the rest of the current billing period.
- Single-Channel Guests and bots use Slack for free.
- Turning AI off does not lower the price. Slack's help center answers this directly: "the price you pay for your Slack plan won't change if you turn all AI features off."
- Payment. You can pay for any plan by credit card. If you pay yearly, you may be able to get an invoice and pay by ACH or wire transfer.
What does Slack AI cost for a 20-person team?
A worked example, using the prices from October 8, 2026, billed yearly, with 20 active members:
- Pro: 20 × $7.25 = $145 a month, for summaries and huddle notes.
- Business+: 20 × $15 = $300 a month, for the full AI set and 15 Slackbot messages per member per week.
Billed monthly, Business+ is 20 × $18 = $360 a month, before any promotion. The difference between Pro and Business+ also buys non-AI features of the plan, so it is not a pure AI price. For how other AI teammates for Slack price their plans, see AI teammate prices for Slack compared.
Can you pay for more Slackbot use?
Yes, if your Slack workspace is connected to Salesforce. Slack calls this Flex Credits:
- Flex Credits work on Free, Pro and Business+ workspaces that are connected to a Salesforce organization.
- They pay for Slackbot use beyond your plan's limits.
- A workspace owner or admin in Slack and a Salesforce admin in Salesforce must both turn them on.
- The extra use is charged at the rates in Salesforce's Flex Credits Rate Card. Slack's help pages link to that rate card but do not state a price.
The pricing page FAQ also says existing Salesforce customers on Slack Free and Pro invoice plans can get access to Slackbot, and Business+ customers on invoice plans can buy Flex Credits through Salesforce for higher message limits.
Will Slack AI pricing change?
It may, for new Slackbot features. Slack's limits article says: "Slack may move to alternative commercial models for advanced Slackbot capabilities released after June 2026, such as third-party content creation and automated actions. This may include usage limits, consumption pricing or a hybrid approach. Slack will provide written notice 30 days before usage-based pricing becomes effective."
So the per-user plan price covers today's features. Features that act in other tools may come with usage pricing later.
How Glad does this
Glad is not a replacement for Slackbot. Slackbot is a personal agent that knows your Slack. Glad is an AI teammate your whole team hands work to across its other tools: anyone mentions @Glad in a channel, asks something like "update the deal in HubSpot and post the summary here", and Glad does it across 1,500+ connected tools, then reports back in the thread. It asks for a yes before anything that cannot be undone. Glad is priced per Slack workspace, not per user, with no credits: Starter is $49 a month for 250 tasks, Team $99 for 600, Business $249 for 1,750, and the trial gives 50 tasks free with no card. It has a hard cap, so there is never an overage bill. You can use both. See Glad vs Slack AI or the pricing page.
FAQ
Is Slack AI free?
Mostly no. Free plans get Slackbot only as a limited trial or preview. Conversation summaries and huddle notes start on Pro, and most AI features start on Business+.
How much is the Slack AI add-on?
You can no longer buy it. Slack stopped selling the add-on on its website after the June 2025 plan changes, and its advanced AI is now part of Business+ and Enterprise+.
How much does Slackbot cost?
Slackbot comes with Business+ ($15 per user a month billed yearly) and Enterprise+ (contact sales). Business+ members get 15 Slackbot messages a week; Enterprise+ has no weekly limit. Free and Pro get a limited trial or preview.
What happens when I hit the Slackbot limit on Business+?
You cannot send new messages to Slackbot until the limit resets at 00:00 on Monday in your time zone. If your workspace is connected to Salesforce, an admin can turn on Flex Credits to pay for more.
Can I turn off Slack AI to pay less?
No. Admins can manage which AI features members use, but Slack says the plan price does not change if you turn all AI features off.
Does Slack charge for inactive users?
No. Slack bills only members who took an action in Slack within a 28-day period, and gives a prorated credit when a paid member becomes inactive.
